CENTRAL PETROVITZA MINE, BORIEVA COMPLEX, MADAN DISTRICT, SMOLYAN OBLAST, SOUTHERN RHODOPE MOUNTAINS, BULGARIA
Combination of galena and sphalerite with semi-transparent quartz, galena crystals are cubes modified by octahedron with some hoppered faces. Galena has a spotted appearance from numerous lustrous black sphalerites inter-grown on the surface. A unique specimen in my experience and rare to find isolated crystals on matrix. Mined 2009. Trivial nick on one crystal, visible with 10X loupe. 4 x 11 x 13 cm.
