Product Overview
MASS MINE, LAKE SUPERIOR COPPER DISTRICT, ONTONOGAN COUNTY, MICHIGAN
The Mass Mine began production sometime around 1857 and produced a great deal of copper from the Knowlton Lode which was one of the most important amygdaloids in the souther part of the range. This is a group of copper crystals with a superb patina of cuprite and tenorite, the classic red and black from the district. The crystals are sharp and lustrous along the top and particularly on one end with tetrahex faces and some twins. Very attractive color and contrast and a fine medium cabinet specimen. Paul LaBonte Collection. 4 x 7 x 10.5 cm.
