Product Overview

NORTHWESTERN MINE, LAKE SUPERIOR COPPER DISTRICT, KEWEENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
The Northwest Mine was formed under the Northwest Mining Company in 1847 and was one of the very early fissure operations in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. It was eventually gobbled up by the Conlglomerate Mine and in turn by the Delaware Mining Company. The was wonderfully crystallized with superb examples of copper crystals of many types. This small cabinet specimen is a very high quality group of spinel twinned crystals with parallel growth forms and elongated dodecahedrons. It displays from any angle and has no point of attachment. One of the finest specimens I acquired from the Paul LaBonte Collection. No faults. 3 x 4 x 6 cm.
