Product Overview

Group of modified cubic galena crystals with associated brilliant reddish/brown sphalerite and purple fluorite. One contact point on reverse. There are two generations of galena in the Denton Ore Body, namely, a primary stage of sharply cubic unmodified crystals often with a hydrocarbon film and a secondary overgrowth of modified cube/octahedrons. Many time the overgrowth completely covers the primary stage masking the paragenesis but in this case it is wonderfully displayed as a nook off to the left side of the major crystal on top. Quite a rare specimen from the mine, a common species yes, but not in this fine of an example. In great condition. Mined c. 1984-1985. Roy Smith Collection.
