PHOENIX MINE, LAKE SUPERIOR COPPER DISTRICT, KEWEENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
Tenorite and cuprite coated copper crystals in a fine branching form and no point of attachment. The Phoenix Mine is famous for this color combination and along with the Central Mine probably produced the finest examples. Very fine and aesthetic group with no faults. Specimen would have been mined c. 1860s-1880s. No faults and a small cabinet 2 x 4 x 7 cm. Paul LaBonte Collection.
