Product Overview
WALLACES' VEIN, COPPER FALLS MINE, LAKE SUPERIOR COPPER DISTRICT, KEWEENAW PENINSULA, KEWEENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN
Elongated copper crystal on matrix of basalt and calcite. Wallace's Vein is a sympathetic fissure to the Owl Creek Vein and was worked independently along with the development of the Ashbed Lode. The vein was cleaned out when I collected there with the rare exception of just a few pieces left in the back. The location I determined from an old surveyor's map dated c. 1863. The copper, 4.5 cm, resembles a cobra ready to strike. Collected c. 1979. No faults. Ross C. Lillie Michigan Collection. 3.5 x 5 x 6 cm.
